Already working with children and want to take the next step? If you're employed in an early years setting or currently working as a Teaching Assistant and want to upskill to become a qualified Early Years Educator, this flexible evening course is designed for you. The NCFE Technical Occupational Entry for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) (Diploma) L3 (replaces the Working in the Early Years Sector) as a nationally recognised qualification that demonstrates you have been trained to the highest standards to work with children from birth to five years. You'll attend college one evening per week (Monday or Wednesday, 6-9pm), combining study with your current role in an early years setting. This 23 week course enables you to apply what you learn in real time, building your professional confidence and competence.

Course requirements

You must already be employed in an Early Years setting, working directly with children aged 0-5 years A minimum of four GCSEs at grades 9-4 (A-C)* or equivalent, including Maths and English at grade C/4 or above, or A Level 2 qualification in a relevant subject area (for example, Supporting Teaching and Learning) A clear Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required before starting the course

What will I do?

This qualification is structured to include: - Health and Wellbeing - Legislation, Frameworks and Professional Practice - Play, Development and Learning for School Readiness - Professional Development Learning takes place through evening classroom sessions, guided independent study, and professional practice in your current workplace. Your practical skills will be observed and assessed in your own setting across three different age ranges (0-5 years) to ensure full competency and readiness for employment.
