Course overview

Year 2 deepens your skills in performance, production, sound engineering and professional practice. You will explore advanced techniques, take leadership roles in events, and specialise in your chosen musical pathway. Year 2 Units Year 2 completes the Extended Diploma with six mandatory units: D8 - Using Development Plans to Refine Skills Learners refine advanced technical, creative or performance skills through structured planning. D9 - Producing a Personal Project A self directed musical product such as an EP, recording project, live set, or creative portfolio. D10 - Using Material for Self Promotion and Networking Creating promotional tools such as EPKs, websites, social media branding and showreels. E11 - Undertaking a Defined Technical Project Role Take on a specialist technical role in a real event-sound engineer, lighting operator, stage manager etc. E12 - Using Creative Collaboration to Develop a Project Collaborate to plan, develop and refine creative work with others. E13 - Producing a Collaborative Project A large final major project involving planning, delivering and evaluating a full performance or production.

Course requirements

Level 3 90 Credit Diploma or equivalent. Alternative qualifications and experience will be considered

What will I do?

Year 2 is taught over three days per week and includes: - Advanced performance sessions - Studio production projects - Live event technical roles - Independent and collaborative project work - Two major assessed public performances

What will it give me?

Completing Year 2 awards you the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music, equivalent to three A levels. It prepares you for: - University - The college's HND in Music - Employment or freelance work in the music and creative industries

Materials needed

Musicians preferably should have their own instrument for personal and bank rehearsals both at home and in college.

What can I do when I finish?

With suitable grades, you may progress to: - HND Music at Bishop Auckland College - A university degree in performance, production, sound engineering or related fields - Work in the music and creative industries
