Course overview

Course requirements

Applicants should hold a subject specialism qualification at Level 3 or higher, as well as GCSE Maths and English at grade 4/C or above (or Level 2 Functional Skills). They must also have access to real teaching or training opportunities - either voluntary or paid - as these provide essential context for applying theory to practice. Applicants should demonstrate: - Strong communication skills - A commitment to supporting learners in a post-16 environment - The ability to reflect on their own professional development

What will I do?

During this course you will develop the core skills and knowledge required to begin teaching or training in the Further Education and Skills sector. You will: - Explore the principles of effective lesson planning, teaching, and learner engagement. - Design and deliver sessions that meet the needs of diverse learners, incorporating differentiation and inclusive practice. - Develop skills in creating assessment activities, providing constructive feedback, and evaluating learner progress. - Build confidence in managing behaviour, promoting positive learning environments, and understanding your professional responsibilities. - Gain experience by delivering observed teaching practice, allowing you to apply theory directly to your workplace or voluntary setting. -Reflect on your developing practice and produce evidence-based assignments that link practical teaching with pedagogical understanding. By the end of the programme, you will understand the foundations of teaching and feel prepared for further professional development as an educator.
