Course overview

This qualification is designed for adults already working within the health and social care sector who are looking to progress into senior, supervisory or lead practitioner roles. The course develops the advanced knowledge, professional practice and leadership skills required to support others, coordinate care, promote wellbeing and contribute to high-quality care services. This programme is funded through an Advanced Learner Loan and provides an excellent progression route for experienced care practitioners wishing to take the next step in their career.

Course requirements

Aged 19 or over. Currently working within an adult care setting. Ideally hold a relevant Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care or Adult Care. Take a look at our Level 3 qualification if you do not currently hold this qualification. Successful interview and initial assessment. Learners must have access to a suitable care environment as practical competency is assessed within the workplace.

What will I do?

This course is designed around real-life leadership and professional practice within adult care settings. You will attend the college one day a week to develop skills and knowledge in areas such Leading and supporting care practice Safeguarding and protection Professional values and ethical practice Partnership working Supporting positive outcomes for individuals Health, safety and wellbeing Communication and relationship management Person-centred approaches to care You will work closely with an assessor and build a portfolio of evidence demonstrating your knowledge and competence within your role. The programme encourages learners to reflect on their own professional practice, develop leadership confidence and strengthen their ability to support both individuals and colleagues within care environments.
