Course overview
A fantastic course designed to build on students existing skills to gain an in-depth knowledge of a range of different photographic techniques. Looking at landscape, portrait, still life, experimental, documentary, advertising and abstract photography. Advancing skills within our traditional darkroom, as well as perfecting your digital skills. You will also have the opportunity to work on commissions from our external links, as well as showcasing your own work at exhibitions and participating in creative competitions. Enrichment also includes skills development, location photography to support portfolio work and further cultural trips. Progression from this course would be onto our own college HND course or university.
Course requirements
Level 2 in photography or equivalent. GCSE Grades 4 or above in English and maths.
What will I do?
Learners will study the Extended Diploma in Photography Level 3 three days per week. Each learner will produce a portfolio of evidence consisting of a variety of assessed pieces of work, which could include assignments, albums, and various projects throughout the year. You will study contextual influences in Art and Design plus a variety of optional units (these will be discussed at interview depending on your entry criteria).
What will it give me?
Learners will be studying towards a Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Photography.
Materials needed
DSLR camera, an A3 / A2 art workbook. along with basic stationery items (pens, pencils, lined paper, file, etc.)
What can I do when I finish?
This qualification can help to progress learners onto Higher Education at university or the HND in Art and Design- Photography, at Bishop Auckland College, or into employment
