Starting College is an exciting step, but we understand that there can be costs involved with studying. Things like getting to College, buying books and equipment or paying for childcare can add up.

Our Learner Support Funds are available to provide financial help to eligible students who may be experiencing financial difficulty. The support available will depend on your individual circumstances and the eligibility requirements for the funding.

Depending on your circumstances, you may be able to get help with some of the costs associated with your course.

This could include essential items such as stationery and books, travel to and from College, educational trips and visits, and course fees. Support may also be available towards childcare costs if your childcare provider is registered with Ofsted.

There is also support available through the Vulnerable Bursary and Free School Meals, for students who meet the relevant eligibility criteria.

If you’re worried about the cost of coming to College, don’t assume you won’t be eligible. It’s worth checking what support may be available to you.

Before starting your application, make sure you read the guidance that applies to you. This will explain the support available, who can apply and what evidence you will need to provide.

You will need to upload the relevant household income evidence as part of your application.

If you receive Universal Credit, you must upload your full Universal Credit statement. This needs to show your name and address, all payments and all deductions.

Your application cannot be assessed without the required evidence. If you don’t provide the evidence needed, your application will be cancelled.

Once you’ve read the guidance and have your evidence ready, you can apply through Pay My Student.
