Course overview

Not everyone can attend regular classes- Flexible Learning means you can study at times and locations to suit you. More and more people are choosing to study on a Flexible Learning course to improve their general employability skills. The courses can be offered in a venue within the community and built around your training requirements. All our tutors are specialists in their vocational area and offer exceptionally high quality one-to-one support. Whatever your background or experience, we believe there will be a programme of interest to you.

Funding eligibility criteria:

• Candidate must be aged 19 or over on 31 August of current year
• Candidates aged 19-23 must already hold a Full Level 2 Qualification
• Candidates must have resided in the EU for the past three years

Course requirements

Learners must have a genuine interest in their chosen subject. This course is designed for learners who wish to understand more about dementia and will be highly valuable to people who support those with the condition, in a personal or professional capacity. Learners do not have to be in employment to enrol on this course.

What will I do?

You will be required to complete three modules of study. This course will cover. Module A Dementia Awareness. Person-centred approach to the care and support of individuals with dementia. Module B Understand the factors that can influence communication and interaction with individuals who have dementia. Understand equality, diversity and inclusion in dementia care. Module C Understand the administration of medication to individuals with dementia using a person-centred approach. Understand behaviour in the context of dementia. Understand the benefits of engaging in activities in social care. Learners are required to complete assessments that are based upon the information and activities within the learning materials provided. There is no end test or multiple choice exam for this course.

What will it give me?

By following this programme, learners will be able to develop their knowledge of the different forms of dementia and gain an appreciation of taking a person-centred approach to dementia care and support. On successful completion of the course a Level 2 certificate will be awarded. The course is accredited by a nationally recognised awarding body.
