Course overview
Not everyone can attend regular classes- Flexible Learning
means you can study at times and locations to suit you. More and more people are
choosing to study on a Flexible Learning course to improve their general
employability skills. The courses can be offered in a venue within the community
and built around your training requirements. All our tutors are specialists in
their vocational area and offer exceptionally high quality one-to-one support.
Whatever your background or experience, we believe there will be a programme of
interest to you.
Funding eligibility criteria:
- Candidate must be aged 19 or over on 31 August of current year
- Candidates aged 19-23 must already hold a Full Level 2 Qualification
- Candidates must have resided in the EU for the past three years
Course requirements
Learners must have a genuine interest in their chosen subject. This qualification is ideal for a wide range of learners who are interested in improving their understanding of nutrition and healthy eating. It will be particularly relevant for those working, or intending to work, in settings such as sport and recreation, exercise and fitness, hospitality and catering or health care, providing specific skills and knowledge to support their role in the workplace.
Learners do not have to be in employment to enrol on this course.
What will I do?
You will be required to complete three modules of study. The course will cover Module A Unit 1 Explore principles of healthy eating. Module B Unit 2 Consider nutritional needs of a variety of individuals. Unit 3 Use food and nutrition information to plan a healthy diet. Module C Unit 4 The principles of weight management. Unit 5 Understanding eating disorders. Unit 6 Principles of food safety for the home environment.
Learners are required to complete assessments that are based upon the information and activities within the learning materials provided. There is no end test or multiple-choice exam for this course
What will it give me?
You will gain a thorough understanding of the principles of healthy eating and the role of food in maintaining health. It will give you a greater confidence in planning and achieving a healthy diet. It also provides an insight into food labelling, eating disorders and the role of a healthy diet for weight management. It also looks at how to prepare, handle and store food safely. On successful completion of the course, a Level 2 certificate will be awarded. A nationally recognised awarding body accredits the course.
