Course overview
Not everyone can attend regular classes -Flexible Learning means you can study at times and locations to suit you. More and more people are choosing to study on a Flexible Learning course to improve their general employability skills. The courses can be offered in a venue within the community and built around your training requirements.
All our tutors are specialists in their vocational area and offer exceptionally high quality one-to-one support. Whatever your background or experience, we believe there will be a programme of interest to you.
Course requirements
This course does not require an interview and there are no formal entry requirements. Learners must have a genuine interest in their chosen subject. This qualification is aimed at anyone who has a responsibility for safeguarding children, young people or vulnerable adults. It will be particularly useful for people working in a training/educational setting, youth workers, and those involved in the running of youth sports teams and community groups that support children and young people.
You must be aged 18 years or over. Learners do not have to be in employment to enrol on this course.
What will I do?
You will be required to complete 2 modules of study. The course will cover Module A Unit 1 Understanding the Prevent Duty. Module B Unit 2 Understanding safeguarding. Unit 3 Understanding online safety.
Learners are required to complete assessments that are based upon the information and activities within the learning materials provided. There is no end test or multiple-choice exam for this course
What will it give me?
You will gain a thorough understanding of the Prevent Duty and safeguarding. In terms of Prevent, you will explore the key themes of radicalisation, extremism and terrorism, and how to reduce the risk of radicalisation.
In the safeguarding unit, you will look at how to recognise signs of abuse or potential harm and know how to respond if abuse or harm is disclosed, suspected or alleged. Finally, in the online safety unit, you will examine the potential consequences of inappropriate or illegal online activity, how to reduce the risks posed online, and how to spot signs and behavioural changes that could cause concern.
It will also give you peace of mind that you have the knowledge to promote the safety and well-being of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
On successful completion of the course, a Level 2 certificate will be awarded. A nationally recognised awarding body accredits the course.
