If you are looking for a course which gives you a hands on approach and
real-life experience, then the Diploma in Site Carpentry Level 2 is the course
for you.
This course will give you the skills and knowledge required to work
as a carpenter on a building site. You will carry out many activities relating
to Carpentry, Joinery and Construction.
You will learn about building
methods and construction technology, first and second fix operations, structural
carcassing, maintenance operations and how to operate a circular saw.

Course requirements
Minimum 4 GCSE’s at grades 3 - 2 (D - E) or equivalent, including a D in Maths and English, or a Level 1 qualification in a relevant subject area.
What will I do?
The new City & Guilds Construction Diplomas are highly regarded within the industry. You will gain knowledge and carry out many activities on this course relating to carpentry, joinery and construction.
You will study the following whilst studying the Diploma in Site Carpentry Level 2:
- Health, Safety and Welfare in Construction
- Principles of Building Construction, Information and Communication
- First Fix Flooring and Roofing
- First Fix Frames, Partitions and Stairs
- Second Fixing Operations
- Carpentry Maintenance
- Set Up and Operate a Circular Saw
What will it give me?
The course will give you the essential skills and knowledge required to work as a Carpenter on a building site. It will also prepare you for further learning.
Materials needed
You will require steel toe cap safety boots and a polo shirt and jumper which you can purchase from the College. You will also be required to wear a high visibility vest in practical sessions which is supplied by the College.
What can I do when I finish?
If you gain suitable grades you may want to progress to the Level 3 Site Carpentry or a paid Apprenticeship at Level 2 or 3.
