Students who do not have English/Maths GCSE at C/4 will have the opportunity to study English and maths alongside their programme.

You will be studying in our brand-new digital technologies suite, which features:

Minimum 4 GCSE’s at grades 3 - 2 (D - E) or equivalent, including a D in Maths and English, or a Level 1 qualification in a relevant subject area.

Applicants must be aware that if students do not have a GCSE grade 4 or above in Maths and/or English, they will have to undertake further study in these subjects as part of their programme of study in addition to the main 'core' qualification.

What will I do?

To gain the full BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Esports, you need to study and achieve the required grade in the following four core and specialist units:

• Unit 1: Esports Games, Teams and Tournaments

• Unit 2: Establishing an Esports Organisation

• Unit 3: Streaming for Esports

• Unit 4: Plan an Esports Event

• Unit 5: Starting an Esports Enterprise

• Unit 6: Designing an Esports Game

You will learn about the structure, organisation and classification of Esports both in the UK and globally. Students will explore a range of different commercial and not for profit organisations involved in the Esports industry and Esports is defined as organised competitive gaming, which is human versus human, either as individuals or in teams. The Esports industry is a fast-growing global industry with revenue projected to reach £1.5 billion in 2022. This qualification has been developed to meet the upcoming demand for skills in Esports and includes a breadth of transferable skills that enables learners to experience different areas of Esports to aid their progression to employment, either directly or via further study.

This one-year full-time course provides an in-depth study of the sector, supporting progression to Level 3 and employment in key areas of the industry such as: Coaching, Health and Fitness in the Esports industry, Enterprise and Creativity, Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Esports Events, Practical Gaming, Gaming Citizenship understand their roles and the influence they have. Students will be expected to take part in Esports tournaments throughout the year.

What will it give me?

The course will help you achieve BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Esports alongside qualifications in Maths and English if you do not already hold a grade 4 (C) or above. It will help to develop skills and employment opportunities and the ability to progress onto a Level 3 course in Esports.

The units are designed to provide deep insight into Esports and may be adjusted to update content and to reflect variations within the industry internationally and in the future. Learners will develop a wide range of transferable skills and knowledge that can be applied to other careers and sectors.

What can I do when I finish?

If you have successfully completed this course with good grades and attendance you will be able to progress to the level 3 BTEC in Esports or go into employment in areas such as: Coaching, Health and Fitness in the Esports industry, Enterprise and Creativity, Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Esports Events, Practical Gaming, Gaming Citizenship.
