T Level Education - Education and Early Years

Course overview

The technical qualification (TQ) forms part of the new T Level study programme.

The purpose of the Level 3 technical qualification in Education and Early Years is to ensure students have the knowledge and skills needed to progress into skilled employment or higher-level technical training relevant to the T Level.

This technical qualification will support students on to a range of progression routes including employment, higher education and higher apprenticeships.

The objectives of this qualification are to equip students with:

• the core knowledge and core skills relevant to Education and Childcare

• up to date occupational knowledge and skills that have continued currency amongst employers and others

• the necessary English, mathematics and digital skills

• threshold competence that meets employer expectations

• opportunities to manage and improve their own performance

Course requirements

Minimum 4 GCSE’s at grades 9 - 4 (A* - C) or equivalent, including a 4 or above in Maths and English or a Level 2 qualification in a relevant subject area. A clear criminal record check by the Disclosure and Barring Service.

What will I do?

The technical qualification is split into 2 component parts:

Core component: the knowledge and underpinning concepts, theories and principles as well as core skills for the education and childcare sector.

Occupational specialism:

• Early Years Educator

The occupational specialisms provide students with knowledge and skills required to enter employment or further study in the specific occupational area.

What will it give me?

This Education and Care T Level will provide you with a licence to practise and the status of being an Early years Educator and will also provide you with a Level 3 qualification. The T Level qualification will give you UCAS points to progress on to Higher Education.
