Course overview

The T-levels are brand-new courses providing a fantastic opportunity to gain the correct knowledge and skills needed in the media, broadcasting and production industry to progress into a range of opportunities with highly skilled employers and/or progression into higher education. During the course students will develop their academic research and writing skills, and gain industry experience through your assignments and work experience placements with local employers to enhance their knowledge, skills and behaviours, leading into a career where you would typically work for a production company, broadcaster or media services supplier or live events production company.

Course requirements

Potential students will need a minimum of 4 GCSE’s Grade 4 or above which must include English and math’s. Students need a passion for working in media and be interested in broadcasting and production through the route of an Events and Venues Technician. You must be willing to attend college 4 days a week and placement 1 day a week.

What will it give me?

The course is split into three different elements where you will study core units/assessments around underpinning knowledge, generating ideas, communication, developing designs and ideas, working collaboratively and reflective practice.

You will also complete some work within your occupational specialism that includes research with clients on venues to produce and event, assist with the implementation of stages, productions and performances, have an understanding of industry equipment and technology and be able to evaluate to ensure the event/production met the requirements.

The course is assessed through some externally set projects such as the Employer Set Project, a written exam and a combination of internally assessed pieces.

What can I do when I finish?

A T Level course carries UCAS points that allows you to go onto university and study a degree around events management. It also gives you the work experience you may need to find full time employment with an employer or gain an apprenticeship.
