Course requirements

What will I do?

The course is split into three different elements where you will study core units/assessments around underpinning knowledge, generating ideas, communication, developing designs and ideas, working collaboratively and reflective practice.

There is also an employer set project that is externally assessed but you complete within college, taking all the skills that you have learnt within your work placement. This includes: a research report, mood board and presentation, final design, completion and collaboration with an end reflective evaluation.

You will also complete some work within your occupational specialism that is assessed through practical projects, all of the topics set will cover creative propositions and briefs, creative product development, design processes, the use of clay, materials, tools processes and techniques including moulding, using a potter’s wheel, colouring and glazing etc.

What can I do when I finish?

A T Level course carries UCAS points that allows you to go onto university and study a degree around ceramics. It also gives you the work experience you may need to find full time employment with an employer in the ceramics industry.
