Course overview

Health care is a career in great demand with the UK- and this demand keeps growing. Here at Bishop Auckland College we provide a range of health care courses aimed at providing the knowledge and skills required across the vast and diverse industry that is health care. Our courses can provide you with the knowledge, skills and qualifications required to enter employment or continue into higher education courses. The opportunities are endless.

A T Level is a nationally-recognised qualification for 16 to 19-year-olds that takes 2 years to complete. Leading businesses and employers have helped design T Levels to give young people the knowledge and skills they need. They're roughly equal to 3 A levels. This T.Level is for those aged 19 and under who want to work in the Health sector. You’ll spend 80% of your time in the classroom and 20% with a placement with an employer. This means you’ll learn what a real career is like while you continue your studies.

Course requirements

Minimum of four GCSE’s at grades 9 - 4 (A* - C) or equivalent, including a 4 or above in Maths, English and Science or a Level 2 qualification in a relevant subject area. You will also need a clear criminal record check by the Disclosure and Barring Service. If you do not have the relevent qualifications we have a Pre.T.Level 2 course designed to support progression.

What will I do?

The objectives of this qualification are to equip students with: the core knowledge and core skills relevant to health. Study up to date occupational knowledge and skills that have continued currency amongst employers and others. Have opportunities to manage and improve your own performance.

The T.Level programmes provide the opportunity to complete an industry placement in a relevant health setting. Industry placements are intended to provide learners with the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for skilled employment in their chosen occupation and which are less easily attainable by completing a qualification alone. You will attend college four days a week and a health placement setting for one day a week.

What will it give me?

This Health T Level will provide you with a licence to practise and will provide you with a Level 3 qualification. The T Level qualification will give you UCAS points to progress on to Higher Education.

What can I do when I finish?

This course is suitable for anyone interested in a career in health. You can progress into roles such as:

  • Supporting the Adult Nursing Team
  • Supporting the Mental Health Team
  • Supporting the Care of Children and Young People
  • Supporting Therapy Teams
