Course overview
Have you struggled to support your children with home schooling during lockdown?
Have you been out of education for a while and looking for a route back in?
Are you looking to develop your academic skills to progress onto further education and a level 3 programme?
Are you thinking about a career change but need to get back into education?
This is a Level 2 course which has the principle aim of developing your academic skills to allow you to progress your career or education. It is a great course if you simply want to build on your current levels of education and learn new transferrable skills. It is also bridging course to allow you to gain access to a Level 3 academic programme.
Course requirements
No formal qualifications are required. An interview will assess your suitability.
What will I do?
The course is part-time and will require you to be on-site at Bishop Auckland College on a Thursday 10am to 3pm. It is delivered a friendly environment that focuses on learning alongside individuals with similar objectives. There is a nice balance of taught sessions and independent learning opportunities in which you have time to develop and work on the skills that we have covered as a group.
What will it give me?
A Diploma in Skills for Employment Training and Personal Development. The initial units cover the skills needed for study whilst, at the same time, developing your understanding of maths, English and ICT. As the course progresses, we look at a range of units that include tailored learning approaches, presentation skills, Equality and Diversity and, to finish off with, units to allow you to research a vocational area that interest you.
Materials needed
Basic stationery and access to a laptop or PC for work.
What can I do when I finish?
If you successfully complete the full diploma course you may progress onto a level 3 in your chosen vocational field.
