Course overview

The Introduction to Counselling course provides learners with an opportunity to find out a little about the subject of Counselling at a basic level.

We look at basic counselling skills / interpersonal skills and how these can affect the way we relate to others. It also gives learners a nice introduction to the method of assessment that follows through to the Level 2 and Level 3 Counselling Skills courses.

It is a short course and is normally delivered over one session per week for four weeks.

Course requirements

You must be minimum age of 19.

What will I do?

Whilst studying the Introduction to Counselling you will meet other learners with something in common and you will learn about basic counselling skills through a variety of methods including discussions, group work, individual work, video clips etc.

You will be expected to do a little work outside of class time following each session.

What will it give me?

You will receive a certificate of completion and progression to the next level.

Materials needed

Resources needed include ring binder, poly-pockets, dividers, pad and pen.

What can I do when I finish?

Progression to the NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills is the most common route for those who complete the Intro. course.
