Diploma in Adult Care L3 - Part Time

Course overview

This qualification develops the knowledge and skills needed when working in a lead adult care worker role in care settings. It covers a wide range of areas including supporting individuals with their physical and emotional care, daily living needs and health and social care procedures.

It is aimed at all those who already work in an adult care worker role in health and social care settings in England. Learners who enrol on the course must be working or volunteering in an adult care sector as you need to show and be assessed in competence in both knowledge and skills.

Course requirements

Minimum 4 GCSE’s at grades 9 - 4 (A* - C) or equivalent, including a C or above in Maths and English, or a Level 2 qualification in a relevant subject area. A clear criminal record check by the Disclosure and Barring Service.

What will I do?

Attend 9 training sessions from September to July 10am to 2.30pm, these are compulsory so you will need time to attend these sessions from your place of work. We are as flexible as we can be regarding the assessments in work settings however to understand the theory this is a tight schedule to ensure you have full guidance to complete the written work. You will complete a portfolio of evidence towards assessment. You will need to be observed in your setting within your job role for the ‘demonstrate’ parts of the qualification.

What will it give me?

A qualification to progress into employment in residential or nursing homes, domiciliary care, day centres or some clinical healthcare settings within job roles such as: Senior Care Support Worker. The qualification can usually be completed in 12–24 months.

Materials needed

The course is delivered once a month on a Wednesday as discussed above. You will need access to the internet and assessments will need to be submitted on Word so access to a laptop or PC is essential. We can support with this and speak to your employer to support you.

What can I do when I finish?

This course holds no UCAS points and is not designed for progression to Higher Education you can however progress to a Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care or Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (England). You may also progress on to qualifications for management or lead practitioner roles in adult care, or to specialist qualifications reflecting the context in which they work.
