Course overview

Following the success of our MA in Psychotherapy Studies which launched in 2023 we are proud to announce the addition of a professional pathway to our programme*. This Level 7 experiential contemporary higher education programme enables all students to extend and further their academic success through their knowledge and understanding of therapeutic practice, theoretical approaches and current research as well as learning to work creatively and wildly! And now, if you haven’t already completed a therapeutic placement, gain a professional qualification in counselling/psychotherapy too! There is a no other therapeutic Masters programme like this one currently out there on the HE market. If you want an extraordinary learning experience as well as a Level 7 academic and/or professional qualification this is the course for you! This qualification is validated by The Open University.

Our Masters programme has two pathways to choose from: academic pathway and professional pathway*
The academic pathway is suitable for students who have already completed an undergraduate qualification in counselling/psychotherapy with 100 therapeutic placement and wish to extend and develop their academic learning to a Level 7 qualification.

The professional pathway* is suitable for students who wish to train as a counsellor/psychotherapist and already have a first degree (in any subject) plus Level 3 Counselling qualification and wish to gain an academic and professional Level 7 qualification.

This programme is taught on a face to face basis. It is taught over two years on the part time degree option.
