Deanna English
Hair Stylist, Truly Love Hair Boutique,
Crook
Deanna initially joined Bishop Auckland College as a Level 2 Apprentice, employed in Meraki Hair Lab, Howden-le-Wear, before successfully progressing to the Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing.
With the support of her tutor and the Student Progression Team, the college brokered an opportunity for Deanna to become employed at the award-winning Truly Love Hair Boutique in Crook.
Deanna said: “Studying at Bishop Auckland College has enabled me to achieve the skills to become a successful hair stylist. I enjoyed all aspects of my training and received amazing support from my tutor. Throughout my time at college, I had regular career appointments with the Student Progression Team, who supported me with work placements during my Level 3 and my career progression.
"I love my new role at Truly Love Hair Boutique and very grateful that the college recognised potential in me. The team in the salon are lovely and very supportive. I am now developing my skills in long hair, colouring, hair extensions, cutting and pin-ups. We are also very excited to enter the UK Hair & Beauty Awards again next year. The salon won Best New Salon in the North East last year!”
Deanna is also developing her beauty skills and has recently completed a make-up course.
Salon owner and manager Tracey Hutchinson said “Deanna is doing an amazing job in the salon. I saw the potential immediately in Deanna and offered her full-time employment directly upon completion of her Level 3 qualification. She has fitted in really well with the team and is building up her own clientele, which is fantastic!”
