Joinery apprentices' gateway to work experience
Joinery apprentices have completed the build and installation of a gate near Binchester Fort for The Auckland Project.
The Level 3 learners have been enjoying practical experience helping the regeneration charity in its latest project with Bishop Auckland College.
The collaboration follows a project 28 Public Services students worked on recently where they ran two groups for schoolchildren for the charity, giving them event management experience.
Next year joinery apprentices will return to help refit some of The Auckland Project's buildings being turned into Airbnb lets, with work including kitchen fitting, door hanging and skirting boards – giving them valuable experience in a real working environment.
The joinery students were thanked personally for their hard work in a visit on site by The Auckland Project's CEO Edward Perry and rewarded with an invite to Auckland Castle for pizza. 🍕
