Bishop Auckland College University Course Open Evening
Thursday, 28th November 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm.
This drop-in event offers prospective Higher Education (HE) students and the local community an invaluable opportunity to explore HE options and learn about the diverse courses available at the College.
Did you know, Bishop Auckland College offers Foundation Degrees, Honours Degrees and Masters’ Degrees through its validated partnership with The Open University? This means we deliver officially recognised Open University degree programmes, in-person on-site at our campus in Bishop Auckland, and these graduates are awarded an Open University degree qualification upon successful completion of their full programme. These qualifications are widely recognised and are backed by The Open University’s reputation for quality higher education.
This is in addition to our range of Pearson Higher National Diplomas which are recognised by many industries and valued for their vocational focus and practical approach to higher education. HNDs are designed in consultation with employers and professional bodies to meet industry standards, and to equip graduates with the relevant skills they need to succeed in their chosen industry, fully preparing people for specific careers. Additionally, HNDs also serve as a pathway to further HE study, allowing students to progress onto the final year of a bachelor’s degree, and many Bishop Auckland College HND graduates do exactly this.
Attendees to our University Course Open Evening will have the chance to:
- Meet university course tutors across a wide range of subjects, including Art & Design, Counselling, Education Studies, Engineering, Healthcare Studies, Music, Performing Arts, Photography, Psychotherapy Studies, Sports Coaching, Sociology & Criminology, Initial Teacher Education for Further Education & Skills, and the College’s brand new HND in E-Sports*.
- Tour the College’s Higher Education Centre and well-stocked Library, where visitors can explore the dedicated facilities designed to support university-level learning.
- Visit subject-specific facilities to gain a first-hand understanding of the resources and learning environments that make studying at Bishop Auckland College a unique experience.
- Take part in some interactive subject-specific activities on the night itself!
In addition to meeting tutors and exploring the College, staff will be on hand to provide information about Student Finance and assist with guidance on applying for a university course at the College for September 2025.
Director of Quality & Higher Education, Lee Phillips commented:
