Award-winning Hayden a cut above after securing full-time job

Hayden Milford has proved he is a cut above after completing his Level 3 Barbering course, making the national finals of an industry competition and securing a full-time job.

The 18-year-old former Greenfield Academy pupil, from Newton Aycliffe, was regional winner of the AHT Barbering Competition, qualifying for the national final in Blackpool.

Hayden had been working in the industry part-time alongside his full-time course, and is now progressing to a full-time position at Head Quarters barbers in Bishop Auckland.

He said: "Barbering wasn't my first choice, but I'm glad I chose it in the end as it has given me a full-time job that I really enjoy, working at Head Quarters in Tindale, Bishop Auckland. I meet loads of new people, it's a really creative job but the starting point for me was coming to college and learning my trade by developing my skills and confidence."
