Adam, Project Manager at AR Power, talked about his career right from his apprenticeship through to his current position with notable experiences including spending eight weeks working in the Falklands Islands.

He told the 25 students and staff that it was his transferable skills that were the most important factor in securing his role at the Washington-based commercial solar and battery storage installation specialist.

AR Power is currently fitting more than 600 solar panels to the roof of the Woodhouse Lane campus as part of a £4m capital investment programme.

The solar panel project is a key element in the college’s sustainability plan, reducing the carbon footprint and saving money.

Adam Black said: “618 solar panels have been installed onto four sections of the campus roof, as part of the college’s sustainability initiative. The panels produce 410W each, enabling the college to produce its own energy to power consumption through renewable energy source.

“AR Power is involving construction students to help them to learn and understand about the sustainability work and benefits of the initiative.”
