William Armiger
Site Carpentry & Joinery Level 3 Apprentice,
Armiger Joinery, Bishop Auckland
Following completion of his GCSEs, William began his training at Bishop Auckland College with the career goal of becoming a joiner. William successfully completed a Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery Level 1 full-time programme before progressing to a Site Carpentry and Joinery Level 2 apprenticeship with well-established family-run business, Armiger Joinery. The joinery firm employs nine staff in total, including four apprentices with Bishop Auckland College. William is delighted to have completed his Level 2 apprenticeship and has just started the next stage of his training as a Level 3 Apprentice!
William said “I always wanted to work for the family business and I really enjoy the practical, hands on work. I started College on a Level 1 full-time course which was a really good starting point to give me experience of using hand tools and producing woodworking joints. The apprenticeship has been brilliant as I have the best of both worlds; working on site, earning a wage and attending the College one day a week where I am taught new skills by my tutors which helps me to gain further knowledge and experience. I am currently enjoying working on a new housing development in Thirsk, North Yorkshire providing first fix to all of the new houses. I would definitely recommend the apprenticeship route, it has worked for me and the business has grown because of it.”
Excellent attendance, hard work + commitment = Amazing job!
