Craig Jameson
BA (Hons) Music Student, Sunderland University
Craig first attended Bishop Auckland College in 2007 as a 16 year old student to study the Level 3 Diploma in Music. Craig then worked in various sectors but his real passion of music remained with him and after a few years of working, Craig decided to pursue his career in music. Craig returned to College in 2020 as an adult learner to study the HND Music Level 5 programme in order to develop his knowledge and skills in the music sector. The Student Progression team supported Craig throughout his studies with career development skills and advice on how to brand himself in preparation for future employment. Following his HND, Craig decided to apply to university to study a BA (Hons) Music degree and was supported by the team with his UCAS application and personal statement, having regular career sessions with a Progression Coach.
Craig said “My real passion is music. From a very young age, I grew up with music with my family and loved playing the guitar. My course was brilliant when I left school and the tutors were very supportive and knowledgeable, but I found myself falling into lots of different jobs. I decided to return to College as my dream is to perform live and then progress to a career in teaching. My tutors and the Student Progression team provided me with so much advice and guidance during one to one sessions to develop my skills and confidence to apply to University. My course fully prepared me for the assignment work at the next level. I loved studying at Bishop Auckland College and university is very different, but I am really enjoying the experience at Sunderland.”
