Video- Beauty Therapy at BAC
Student case studies
Sophie
Beauty Therapy L3
I have always been interested in beauty and want to work in the sector. I previously studied for my Level 2 qualification at the College and wanted to stay and continue to advance my knowledge ready for employment. My course
has given me experience of working with a range of clients and applying a range of beauty techniques. I'm now working full time in a salon while also studying for an additional Hair & Media Make Up qualification at the college.
Suzanne
Beauty Therapy L3
Since finishing her qualifications at the college, Suzanne has enjoyed working as a beauty therapist on a cruise liner. She has provided spa treatments to guests on seven day cruises from Florida to islands including Jamacia, Barbados, St Lucia and Puerto Rico. The ship can hold 3,690 passengers and nearly 1,400 staff.
Suzanne said 'I enjoyed my four years at Bishop Auckland College - I learned so much. Every tutor I had was amazing, always helping me when I needed it and giving me the confidence to apply for my dream
job'

What courses could I study?
We have a course at BAC regardless of your previous experience of Beauty Therapy. If you have some experience, you might enter at Level 2. If not, we have other courses designed to build up your skills first.
What facilities would I have access to?
As a Beauty Therapy student at the college you would have access to two commercial beauty salons and a fully stocked nail salon. You will also have access to specialist training to help you build your skills, including
industry-trained guest speakers. Previous training has included Sienna X Tanning, Skincare and Brows, NSI Nails, Airbase Make up, Caflon Ear Piercing, Lash Lift/Lamination Brows, Henna Brows and first aid courses.
We use CACI International and Dermalogica Skincare products in our salons.
What trips could I go on?
Beauty Therapy students enjoy our industry links with a range of local, national and international spas and companies. Students enjoy placements at settings including Rockcliffe Hall Spa, Redworth Hall Spa, Hallgarth Hotel Spa,
Manor Spa, Nu Spa Durham and local salons.
Each year we put students forward for national competitions, including the AHT (Association of Hairdressers and Therapists) Nationals Competition. We have won the Nail Art category two years in row!
Students will enjoy a range of trips and visits to local spas, wholesalers and industry venues.
