Course overview

The CG Diploma in Barbering Level 2 helps you to develop the skills, knowledge and experience to gain a Level 2 qualification and to become a practicing barber. You will be able to practice your skills in our purpose built salons, gaining valuable work experience and covering topics such as consulting clients for hair services, how to style, dress, cut and finish men's hair, cutting facial hair and colouring.

Course requirements

Minimum 4 GCSE’s at grades 3 - 2 (D - E) or equivalent, including a D in Maths and English, or a Level 1 qualification in a relevant subject area.

What will I do?

Throughout the CG Diploma in Barbering Level 2 you will learn barbering skills. You will be required to complete theory tests and salon assessments. The course units include client consultation for hair services, shampoo and condition hair and scalp, cut men's hair, styling men's hair, colour men's hair and cut facial hair. Additional units are to be confirmed.

The course will be taught over three days with a work placement.

What will it give me?

The course will give you a Level 2 in Barbering.

Materials needed

All students in the Hairdressing and Beauty department are required to wear a uniform and purchase their own hairdressing kit which can be purchased from the College. This is essential for all practical sessions.

What can I do when I finish?

You may wish to progress to a Level 3 hairdressing or barbering course.
