Course overview
Diplomas are highly regarded within the care industry. The NOCN Diploma in
Skills for Health and Social Care Level 2 will have you working towards gaining
37 credits through a variety of units with a placement experience to enhance
your skills.
The registered title of this course is Diploma in Skills for
Employment Training and Personal Development (Health and Social Care).
You will have an opportunity to develop and apply new skills and knowledge in
a practical realistic way and will follow a course of study that will enable you
to progress to either the Level 2 Health Pre-T.Level 2 or an apprenticeship
Did you know health and social care qualifications are changing ? We
therefore have different routes for learners who want to gain a career in Health
(nursing and physiotherapy for example) and Social Care (care of the elderly in

Course requirements
For the level 2 Diploma a minimum 4 GCSE’s at grades 3 - 2 or equivalent, including Maths and English, or a Level 1 qualification in a relevant subject area. These will be subject to individual requirements at interview.
What will I do?
Whilst studying the NOCN Diploma in Skills for Health and Social Care L2 you will develop an understanding of working with children, young people, adults and the elderly.
You will be studying communication skills, equality and diversity, health and safety as well as a range of other specialised topics in the care field.
You will also attend placement to gain practical experience of working with different service users.
What will it give me?
The course will give you essential skills and attitudes required to become an effective carer should you wish to work in the Social Care sector. Should you wish to develop in the Health sector you will gain access to the Pre-T.Level 2 next year.
You will also be working towards functional skills or GCSE qualifications (English and Maths) if you do not already have them.
Materials needed
You will be required to purchase a college polo shirt for your placement experience and have access to the internet.
What can I do when I finish?
Progress on to the Pre-T.Level 2 for Health if you want a career in Health Care. Progress to employment in the Care sector. Apply for an apprenticeship in care.
